![]() Too bad the series didn't feature a story worth a damn until Three Houses. That's why I love Fire Emblem the long term strategic layer is about rationing out scarce resources, so it's designed specifically around not grinding, even if the newer games allow you to. I love the idea of Final Fantasy Tactics but I hate the grind. Outside of the representation problems, I think a great sin of the game was how much it chickened out about the ending.Īs bad as the story was, I was fucking enthralled that a Japanese developed game was going to get into a discussion about Not the MOST aggressively sexist game I've played (Sadly looking at the danganronpa franchise), but it is definitely not great. Way too anime, poor treatment of the women cast. The 4th game''s gameplay is notably better, but you aren't wrong about the story. It was never released in english though so you have to play with a fan translation patch. Its actually fine, by the standards of the first game. It took place at the same time as the first game but in different parts of Galia. You played as a squad of criminals I think, that were placed into their own squad to do dangerous missions because no one cared if they died (If I remember right). The third game was not the high school bs, it was just a war story like the first game. I don't remember when I played it exactly (it came out before my time as a gamer), but I do know it has been a very long time and I could not tell you if it was actually good or I was just a dumb kid who liked gladiators.īut I thought its a recommendation that is 1) more obscure so maybe it won't get posted, and 2) isn't an anime game. There was a ps2 gladiator game called gladius.
